The Jackson Generals picked up a win at The Ballpark at Jackson, knocking off the Mobile BayBears, 4-3, in 11 innings. Starting pitcher Jimmy Smith played a key role in the triumph. Hugh Herring picked up the win in relief for Jackson, while Luis Valdés took the loss. After losing, Mobile is 11-13.

The decisive blow was delivered by Marc Reynolds in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a solo home run off 22-year old left-handed pitcher Luis Valdés to win the game for Jackson. The home crowd went nuts.
