Generals Slap 4-2 Loss on Tennessee
|
The Jackson Generals picked up a win at The Ballpark at Jackson, knocking off the Tennessee Smokies, 4-2. Starting pitcher Dan Bell was a big reason why. The winner was Bell. He threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Virgil Adams. Hugh Herring earned the save for Jackson, his 2nd.
Toronto, Canada-born Samuel Borel came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Generals trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Jackson on top.
Said losing manager Kevin Riggs: "Give the Generals credit. They played a better game than we did."
The loss drops Tennessee to 3-7.
