|
Montgomery catcher Rocky Smith had a 3-RBI performance, which helped his team down the Mississippi Hammers, 9-2. Juan Rodríguez, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-0. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 1. With the win, Montgomery improves its record to 4-2.
With Montgomery leading 6-2 in the top of the eighth, Smith came up to bat against Mississippi pitcher Shawn Black. Smith hit a cutter to left for a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season put the Biscuits on top, 9-2.
"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Chris Herrmann.
