Blue Jays Earn Clutch Win, 2-1
|
The Baltimore Orioles got a superb performance from pitcher Randy Marte. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Toronto. The Blue Jays won the game, 2-1. Marte threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The second-place Blue Jays have won 4 in a row.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Alfredo Salinas? The 24-year old right fielder Salinas stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Toronto up, 2-1. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
Toronto manager José Soto called it "a pretty good win."
