Blue Jays Need Extra Frames to Get Past Yankees
Hugh Brooks did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the New York Yankees from losing, 6-4, to the Toronto Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium. Brooks went 2 for 4 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times. Eric Morgan earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 6-2. R.J. Alvarez, credited with the save, is now 6 for 10 in save opportunities.

The outcome might have been different for Toronto, had it not been for Michael Choice, the fan favorite . Choice stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put Toronto up, 5-4. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.

"It was terrific getting this win," Choice said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."

The first-place Blue Jays, at 99-61, now lead their division by 7 games.
