Cleveland Spiders starter Adam Conley hurled his team past the Minnesota Twins, 4-2. Conley went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 10-9. The third-place Spiders improved to 69-84.
Jose Abreu, the two-time All-Star , had a direct impact on the outcome. Abreu contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Cleveland up, 3-2.
After the game, Cleveland manager Terry Francona applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
