Blue Jays Score Late to Beat Yankees, 2-1
|
Toronto pitcher Chris Mason had a large part in his team subduing the New York Yankees, 2-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Tyler Kolek earned his 19th save in 23 tries. With the victory, the Blue Jays upped their record to 86-68.
Toronto took a 2-1 lead on Dan Prince's 7th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Prince hit in the bottom of the eighth, left New York pitcher Mike Whiteford visibly frustrated.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Blue Jays manager José Soto, "I like our chances."
