Due in large part to second baseman Ernesto Almirón, the Philadelphia Phillies sunk the Washington Nationals, 9-6. Almirón was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Alex Claudio got the save, his 37th in 39 chances. Philadelphia has now won 3 in a row.

With Philadelphia leading 3-0 in the top of the second, Almirón hit a curveball from Kirk Griffith for a grand slam home run. It was his 31st home run of the season and put the Phillies ahead, 7-0.
