Rangers Need Extra Frames to Get Past Mariners
|
The Texas Rangers defeated the Seattle Mariners in 10 innings, 10-8, in part because of third baseman Sean Carver. Carver went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for the Rangers. Texas reliever Lou Green picked up the win to move to 8-8. Dominic Leone suffered the loss. Sam Scott got the save, his 1st in 2 chances.
Tony Silva drove in one run for Texas. The 23-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the tenth. With no one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 8-8 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Dominic Leone. It was his 23rd RBI of the season.
"Took some scratching and clawing," said Carver. "But we got it done."
With the win, Texas raised its record to 74-74.
