With Late Score, Mariners Beat Angels
|
The Los Angeles Angels got a superb performance from pitcher Marc Collins, but the Seattle Mariners still won the game, 5-4. Collins threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Artie Kavanagh earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record is now 2-0. The setback makes Los Angeles 101-48.
Seattle took a 5-4 lead on Kolten Wong's 18th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Wong hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Los Angeles pitcher Darren Watkins visibly frustrated.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Seattle manager Jeff Banister.
