Cleveland Loss Takes Shine Off Papi Performance
Cleveland designated hitter Mike Papi had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 7-5, to Minnesota at Target Field. Papi was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The win went to Pat Calhoun in relief. His record improves to 4-2. Angel Heredia took the loss. The Twins improved their record to 78-70 with the win over Cleveland.

The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Lou Smith came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Cleveland pitcher Angel Heredia, he hit a 2-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Minnesota on top, 6-5.

"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Smith told the Minnesota Herald.
