The Oakland Athletics locked up a win at O.co Coliseum, knocking off the Texas Rangers, 4-3. On the mound for Oakland was left-hander Jose Nova. He played a major role in the triumph. The Athletics now have a record of 69-78.

David Carrasco had a big run-scoring double for the Athletics in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Oakland leading 3-1 and a runner on 3rd, he got a curveball from Sonny Gray, who finished 5th in the AL in ERA with 3.13 in 2017, and swatted a double to center. It was his 33rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Athletics ahead, 4-1.

In postgame comments to the Oakland Daily News, Carrasco said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
