The New York Mets beat the San Francisco Giants, 6-5, at Citi Field. New York designated hitter Héctor Cabrera had an outstanding performance. He was 2-4 with a home run. Picking up his 10th save was 25-year old right-handed pitcher Edgardo Castillo.

Said New York manager Mike Matheny: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
