Phillies Win 8-7 Walk-Off
|
In a tight contest at Citizens Bank Park, the Philadelphia Phillies edged the Cincinnati Reds by the score of 8-7. Philadelphia right fielder Lou Brown, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. Philadelphia reliever Brad Townsend picked up the win, raising his record to 3-2. Robby Davis was tagged with the loss. Philadelphia is 78-58 and Cincinnati, with the loss, 53-84.
The Phillies procured the win, in large part because of designated hitter Ernesto Almirón. In the bottom of the 11th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
"It's great when the crowd is energized," Brown said.
