The Toronto Blue Jays rode a solid performance from 27-year-old starting pitcher Vince McSweeney to a win, beating the Minnesota Twins, 3-2, at Rogers Centre. The winning pitcher was McSweeney, now 5-0. He tossed 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. José Amaya earned the save for Toronto, his 15th.
Alfredo Salinas had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the seventh for Toronto. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Toronto in front, 3-1.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Salinas.
The win elevated the Blue Jays to 73-60.
