The home crowd had a good time watching the New York Mets and Washington Nationals get after it.

Nationals first baseman Christian Walker put his stamp on his team's 8-6 win over the New York Mets. Walker was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for Washington in the contest. Robbie McJannett earned his 29th save in 33 chances.

With Washington leading 6-3 in the bottom of the fourth, Walker hit a changeup from Jesús García for a 2-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Nationals ahead, 8-3.

"We ground out the win," said Walker. "That's all that matters."

With the win, Washington upped its record to 74-52.
