The Arizona Diamondbacks had no problem beating the St. Louis Cardinals, 11-1, at Chase Field. Johnny McConnell, who is tied for 3rd in the NL in extra base hits with 50, led the onslaught. He went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 7 runs and scored twice for Arizona. This win makes it 5 in a row for Arizona.

With Arizona leading 6-0 in the bottom of the fourth, McConnell came up to bat against St. Louis pitcher Andy Boone. McConnell hit a fastball to right-center for a 3-run home run. His 8th home run of the season put the Diamondbacks on top, 9-0.

Diamondbacks manager Clint Hurdle had nothing but praise for his players after an impressive win, calling the result one of the team's best performances of the season. "Everything just came together on our end," he said. "I didn't need to do too much."
