Cincinnati beat Philadelphia on the strength of starting pitcher Steven Matz's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. The third-place Phillies have lost 4 consecutive games.

Leury Garcia, who is a two-time All-Star, helped out the Cincinnati cause in the bottom of the seventh inning with a bases-clearing double. For the game, the shortstop went 1 for 3 with a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
