Pirates Beaten By Reds, 5-4

PNC Park was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Cincinnati Reds besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Pittsburgh third baseman Mauro Rodríguez by beating the Pirates, 5-4, at PNC Park. Rodríguez was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Walt Sharpe was the winner. Over 7 innings, he yielded 4 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts.
Diory Paulino, who is a two-time All-Star, helped out the Cincinnati cause in the top of the seventh inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the first baseman was 2 for 5 with a double.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Pittsburgh manager Jose Mijares.
The Reds improved their record to 53-64 with the win over Pittsburgh.
