The Milwaukee Brewers had to overcome a big game from New York left fielder Dalton Pompey to leave Miller Park with a victory. And they did, winning, 6-5. Pompey went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Milwaukee, at 61-55, is 5 games up in the National League Central Division.

The decisive blow was delivered by Jim Smith in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a solo home run off 28-year old right-handed pitcher Stan Wilson to win the game for Milwaukee. The home crowd went nuts.

"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Smith said.
