Barreto Helps Chicago Cruise to 12-3 Win
The Chicago Cubs beat the Cincinnati Reds, 12-3, at Wrigley Field. The win was due in part to second baseman Franklin Barreto, who went 4-5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 5. Tyler Matzek snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 2 runs on 5 hits over 3.1 innings. He's now 2-4 on the season. The Cubs improved their record to 54-61 by beating Cincinnati.

With Chicago leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Barreto hit a fastball from Chris Kohler for a 2-run home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Cubs ahead, 4-1.

"Bad day," Cincinnati manager Julio Vinas said. "New day tomorrow."
