Blue Jays Win at Colorado, 5-3
|
The Toronto Blue Jays picked up a win at Coors Field, knocking off the Colorado Rockies, 5-3. On the mound for Toronto was left-hander Vince McSweeney. He played a key role in the triumph. McSweeney yielded 3 runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-0. At 62-52, the Blue Jays are currently second in the American League East Division.
Toronto won the game in part because of Tynan Cotto. The third baseman ripped a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 4-3. For the game, Cotto had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
McSweeney told a Toronto Chronicle reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
