Bates Leads Astros to Win
|
The Houston Astros trumped the Milwaukee Brewers, 6-2, at Minute Maid Park. Houston designated hitter Clarence Bates was terrific. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 and driving in 5. The Astros saw their record improve to 54-55.
There was more than one reason the Astros beat the Brewers, but Bates's big at-bat in the bottom of the first was an important factor. He staked his team to a 3-0 lead when he hit a 3-run home run.
"I felt good up there," said Bates. "I saw the ball well."
