Dominant Performance by Ellis in Seattle Win
|
The Seattle Mariners downed the Oakland Athletics, 2-0, at O.co Coliseum. Stellar pitching by Donnie Ellis had a lot to do with it. The left-hander, who finished 5th in the AL in innings pitched with 187.2 in 2021, handcuffed his opponent all game. The Mariners saw their record improve to 55-52.
Ellis earned the win, going 7 strong innings for Seattle. The left-hander allowed just 3 hits, while striking out 8. Oakland hitters had little success against him.
"Donnie was able to locate to both sides, up and down," said Seattle manager Jeff Banister.
