St. Louis right-hander Ed Franklin pitched his team to victory over the San Diego Padres at Busch Stadium. The final score was 3-0. The last-place Cardinals are now 47-57, the Padres 48-55.

Avery Romero had a big run-scoring double for the Cardinals in the bottom of the sixth inning. With St. Louis leading 1-0 and a runner on 3rd, he got a curveball from Wing-chiu Chin, who is tied for 10th in the NL with a 1.16 WHIP, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 21st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cardinals ahead, 2-0.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Romero said after the game.
