The Houston Astros, behind a great outing from Greg Connolly, who is tied for 7th in the AL with a 2.99 ERA, defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks, 2-1, at Chase Field. Houston reliever Andres Sanchez picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Dan Crawford took the loss. Arizona has now lost 6 consecutive games.

Houston used the timely hitting of Ed Simmons to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Astros on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

In postgame comments, Simmons told the Houston Gazette: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
