Athletics Dealt 6-4 Home Loss
|
Toronto and Oakland duked it out and the Blue Jays came out victorious.
Oakland left fielder Tim Graves had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Graves went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice, even as Toronto beat the Athletics, 6-4. Chris Sale, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 5 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 9-6. José Amaya closed the door for Toronto, picking up his 4th save of the year.
Alfredo Salinas was 2 for 4 with 2 singles for Toronto. The 25-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and a runner on 2nd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring single off Aaron Nola. It was his 92nd hit of the season.
Afterward, Oakland manager Bob Melvin said: "We've hit a rough patch."
Toronto has now won 4 games in a row.
