Yankees Down Phillies, 7-6
|
Behind a solid performance from center fielder Jonathan Womack, the New York Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies, 7-6. Womack was 5 for 6 with 5 singles, while adding 2 RBI for the Yankees. New York currently is in last place in the American League East Division at 35-57.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 13th. With two out, Womack hit a fastball from Pedro Baez for a run-scoring single. The Yankees, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"It's great to see the crowd jacked up," Womack said.
