Guardians Send Toronto Home with 9-7 Loss
Cleveland and Toronto duked it out and the Guardians came out victorious.

The Cleveland Guardians weathered an outstanding game by Toronto left fielder Alfredo Salinas to topple the Blue Jays, 9-7. Salinas went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Cleveland is now 30-48, while Toronto is 44-36.

Juan Martínez had a big 3-run home run for the Guardians in the bottom of the first inning. With Cleveland trailing 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from two-time All-Star Marco Gonzales and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Guardians on top, 4-3.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Martínez, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
