Tampa Bay turned a good effort from starter Chris Stephenson into a win over the Miami Marlins at LoanDepot Park. The Rays won the game, 6-2. The win puts Tampa Bay at 33-31 this season.

Dan Mitchell had a big solo home run for the Rays in the top of the third inning. With Tampa Bay leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a curveball from Ben Anderson, who is tied for 10th in the NL with a 8.2 K/9 rate, and punished it. The result was his 13th home run of the season, which put the Rays on top, 2-0.

Mitchell attributed the win to his team's "grittiness."
