Hurler Luis Gallegos gave the Pittsburgh Pirates a solid start. The native of Barquisimeto, Lara helped his team defeat the Atlanta Hammers, 3-2, at SunTrust Park. The first-place Pirates have won 4 straight.

The Pirates benefited from a costly error in the top of the seventh. With Arquimedes Gamboa at bat and Pittsburgh leading 2-0, the Atlanta miscue allowed Pittsburgh to plate 1 and take the lead, 3-0.

"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Atlanta manager Vince Harrison.
