The New York Mets knocked off the Colorado Rockies, 4-2, in National League action at Coors Field. New York pitcher and Tuxtepec, Mexico, native José Ferrer had an outstanding performance. The victory puts New York at 21-42.

The Mets got a big at-bat from center fielder Juan De Leon. For the game, De Leon went 1-5 with a double. In the top of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave New York a 1-0 lead.

De Leon attributed the win to his team's "determination."
