Hurler Alex Reyes gave the Pittsburgh Pirates a solid start. The native of Elizabeth, New Jersey helped his team defeat the Houston Astros, 3-2, at PNC Park. Pittsburgh reliever Charlie Maxwell picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. A.J. Ramos was saddled with the loss. Pittsburgh is now 30-32, while Houston is 25-37.

Pittsburgh left fielder Juan Reyes helped the Pirates go up, 3-2, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Reyes hit a run-scoring single off Houston pitcher A.J. Ramos.

"Both teams played hard," said Pittsburgh manager Jose Mijares.
