Raucous Fenway Park Crowd Propels Red Sox to 4-2 Victory; Series Tied at 3
|
The Boston Red Sox and the Milwaukee Brewers will take the World Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation, the Red Sox beat the Brewers, 4-2, at Fenway Park to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Boston right-hander Ted Burton had a big role in the win. He threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball.
The Red Sox ran into trouble in the top of the third. The score was 2-1, Boston, with one out. Milwaukee, with runners on 1st and 2nd, had Tim Campbell at the plate. With a base hit, he could have changed the complexion of the game. Instead, he struck out and the Red Sox went on to win.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Fenway Park in Boston.
