Miami Tops Los Angeles, 3-1, Claims 2-1 Series Lead
The Miami Marlins moved to within one game of the League Championship Series, downing the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road at Dodger Stadium by a score of 3-1. Marlins right-hander Bob Irvin had a strong outing. He threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Marlins a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 League Divisional Series.

Irvin delivered a quality start for Miami. The 5-foot-11 right-hander allowed no earned runs on 3 hits over 6 innings of work.

"Every team in baseball loses," Dodgers manager Torey Lovullo said. "We're in the playoffs and we still have the same guys that got us here. We'll bounce back."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
