The Philadelphia (VSL) Phillies weathered an outstanding game by Chicago (VSL) first baseman Mauro Pérez to topple the Cubs, 8-7. Pérez was 3-5 with a home run and a triple. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Joe Burke, now 3-0, was credited with the win in 4 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Caden Moore, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 6th save.

Had Adrián Montepeque not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Montepeque hit a 2-run double. That made the score 8-6, in favor of the Phillies.
