The Tampa Bay (VSL) Rays withstood an impressive performance by Philadelphia (VSL) designated hitter Dan Baker to defeat the Phillies, 11-10, at VSL Rays Complex. Baker went 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 5. The winner was Ron Tipton in relief. His record improves to 1-0. António Martínez took the loss. The third-place Rays have won 5 in a row.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the tenth for Tampa Bay (VSL). That's when Jesús Deleón hit a solo home run off 20-year old right-handed pitcher António Martínez to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"We take it day by day here," said Deleón, "and today was a good one for us."
