Cubs Sneak Past Mariners, 7-6
Chicago (VSL) catcher Tony Álvarez made his presence felt in the 7-6 Cubs triumph over the Seattle (VSL) Mariners. Álvarez was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs. António Salazar came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. The win for the Cubs lifted their record to 8-7.

When he came to bat in the bottom of the 14th, Jesús Ayala had a chance to be the hero. Seattle (VSL) pitcher Phil Johnson had other ideas. But with no outs, Ayala hit a solo home run. The Cubs had themselves a dramatic win.

"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Ayala told the Chicago (VSL) News. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
