The Detroit (VSL) Tigers defeated the Philadelphia (VSL) Phillies, 9-5. Doing his part was left fielder Jon McAdoo Jr., who was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The loss puts Philadelphia (VSL) at 7-5.

The Phillies had been locked in a 5-5 tie with the Tigers going into the bottom of the seventh inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year old center fielder Bob Kilmartin came to the plate. Kilmartin hit a 2-run double on a first pitch cutter from Philadelphia (VSL) hurler Thome Nel. It was Kilmartin's 2nd double of the year.
