Yankees Advance to Round 2
|
The Tampa Yankees have cruised through the Round 1, easily sweeping away the Lakeland Flying Tigers by a count of 3-0.
The final blow came with a 2-1 triumph at Joker Marchant Stadium, which sends Tampa on to the Round 2.
"There's a lot of focus from our team right now, up and down that bench and in the clubhouse," said Chris Malone.
For the series, Malone had a 0.00 ERA over 4 innings pitched, with a 1-0 record. He was named series MVP for his efforts.
The Tampa Yankees don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the St. Lucie Mets - Palm Beach Cardinals series. St. Lucie leads the series 2 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
