Ballpark of Belvedere was the site for Gulf Coast Rookie League action featuring the Houston (GCL) Astros and New York A2 (GCL) Yankees2.

The inspired effort of Houston (GCL) center fielder Mike Ethridge was not enough to prevent a loss, 9-6, to the New York A2 (GCL) Yankees2. Ethridge was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. New York A2 (GCL) reliever Charlie Porter picked up the win, raising his record to 2-1. Myron Nichols was tagged with the loss. Bob Wolfe earned the save for New York A2 (GCL), his 5th of the year.

Pete McDonald had a nice at-bat for the Yankees2 with no one out in the top of the ninth. With the bases empty, the third baseman hit a solo home run, which would prove important in the New York A2 (GCL) win.

"I just tried to make good contact," said McDonald.

Houston (GCL), at 22-34, has lost 4 straight.
