Pirates Fall to Red Sox, 9-4
|
Though he had a stellar game, Alfredo Martínez could not prevent his team, the FCL Pirates, from losing, 9-4, to the FCL Red Sox. Martínez was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 times. Cedric McCarthy was the winner. Over 6 innings, he yielded 3 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. Earning his 1st save of the year was Nelson Cruz.
FCL third baseman Randy Banks contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 68th hit of the season and put the Red Sox ahead, 3-0.
