The Philadelphia (GCL) Phillies defeated the New York A1 (GCL) Yankees1, 6-4, in Gulf Coast Rookie League action at Bright House Field. Philadelphia (GCL) pitcher Jim Hill had a standout performance. The win lifted the Philadelphia (GCL) record to 36-18.

Steve Mendoza, who is tied for 5th in the GCL in RBI with 51, aided the Philadelphia (GCL) cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the third. For the game, the shortstop went 1 for 3 with a walk.

"This team keeps racking up the wins," said Phillies manager Jorge Hernandez.
