Phillies Lose to Reds, 4-2
The Cincinnati Reds picked up a win at Citizens Bank Park, dropping the Philadelphia Phillies, 4-2. Chris Sale, who is tied for 6th in the NL in strikeouts with 59, was the difference-maker. Sale, now 4-4, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Dave Parsons earned the save, his 17th, for the Reds.

Cincinnati used a timely hit from Jon Clark to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Reds ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Sale. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."

The Reds improved their record to 26-24 by beating Philadelphia.
