Twins Hand FCL 7-3 Loss
|
Conditions were not ideal but FCL and FCL were able to put their game in the books.
Starting pitcher Doug Childress pitched well enough to help the FCL Twins beat the FCL Red Sox, 7-3. In 5.2 innings, Childress surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Picking up his 1st save was 20-year old left-handed pitcher Tony Ruíz.
Julián González drove in one run for FCL. The 17-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch off Juan Ochoa. It was his 14th RBI of the season.
"Doug went out and did what we needed," said FCL manager Sammy Solis.
By defeating FCL, the 5th-place Twins improved to 15-25.
