Marlins Suffer 4-1 Home Defeat
The New York N (GCL) Mets knocked off the Miami (GCL) Marlins, 4-1, in Gulf Coast Rookie League action at Roger Dean Stadium. New York N (GCL) pitcher and Tuscaloosa, Alabama, native Tim Walwyn had an outstanding performance. Walwyn got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 10 hits and walked 2 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. New York N (GCL) is now 13-16, Miami (GCL) 20-9.

New York N (GCL) used a clutch at-bat from Brad Miner to capture the win. The shortstop hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Mets ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

Miner told a New York N (GCL) Times reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
