Red Sox Top Orioles in 12
|
Spirited fans greeted the Baltimore (GCL) Orioles for their clash with the Boston (GCL) Red Sox.
The Baltimore (GCL) Orioles could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Jerry Kaufman into a win. Instead, the Boston (GCL) Red Sox prevailed, 5-2, in 12 innings. Kaufman threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Nelson Cruz locked down his 1st save.
Boston (GCL) used the timely hitting of Iván Escobedo to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Red Sox on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Escobedo called getting the win a "good ending to a long game."
Boston (GCL) goes to 11-14, Baltimore (GCL) to 10-15.
