The Detroit (GCL) Tigers downed the Toronto (GCL) Blue Jays, 3-2, the largest share of the credit belonging to center fielder Ambrosi Jacopino. On the day, Jacopino was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Tigers. António Valenzuela was credited with the save for Detroit (GCL), his 9th of the season. The first-place Tigers have won 5 in a row.
With Detroit (GCL) trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Jacopino hit a fastball from Dave Thompson for a 2-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Tigers ahead, 2-1.
