Twins Turn Away Red Sox, 2-1
|
In a tight game between the Minnesota (GCL) Twins and the Boston (GCL) Red Sox, pitcher Bob Head was terrific on the mound. The Minnesota (GCL) right-hander helped his team to the 2-1 win. Head, the winner, moves to 2-2. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. The save was credited to Chris Arnold, his 2nd.
Minnesota (GCL) left fielder Orkut Erkan contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a changeup to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 5th hit of the season and put the Twins ahead, 2-0.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Erkan said.
The loss makes Boston (GCL) 9-12.
