The Tampa Bay (GCL) Rays clipped the Minnesota (GCL) Twins, 9-4, in 12 innings at Hammond Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Tampa Bay (GCL) pitcher and Vallejo, California, native Chad Yoder. The win was credited to David Carrillo in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Chris Jones took the loss. The defeat makes Minnesota (GCL) 2-1.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder José Hernández came to bat in the top of the 12th. Facing Minnesota (GCL) pitcher Chris Jones, he hit a 1-1 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Tampa Bay (GCL) on top, 5-4.

"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Yoder. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
